Jo Jung Suk Joins EXO's D.O. In The Film 'Brothers'
Jo Jung Suk, who currently stars in "Oh My Ghostess" has been cast in the film "Brothers" aka "Hyung." He will play Doo Sik, a con man whose choices will have an unexpected impact on the life of his talented younger brother, Doo Young. EXO's D.O. has been cast as Doo Young.
Both actors were impressed by the script and are eager to start filming.
"It is every actor's dream to take part in a good production like this," said Jo Jung Suk. "So I chose this movie. It's a human story that everyone can relate to and that is its best point. I am already looking forward to it."
In the film Jo Jung Suk's character has been in prison for 15 years. After he is paroled he returns to live with his brother a promising judo athlete.
D.O.'s character is about to take part in a national competition but then he has an accident and his life is changed forever.
"I have never played a character like this before so I am very eager to do my best. I read the script in one sitting and was so excited that I could not sleep. It will be hard to forget that feeling and I will do my best to immerse myself in the role."
D.O. has moved past the label of idol actor. He made his acting debut in the film "Cart," then appeared as Jo In Sung's imaginary friend in "It's Okay That's Love." That drama role earned him the nominations for the Best New Actor Award and Male TV Popularity Award at the 2015 Baeksang Arts Award. He played a psychopath in the drama "Hello Monster" and followed that with a leading role in the romance film "Pure Love" with co-star Kim So Hyun.
Jo Jung Suk previously appeared in the films "My Love, My Bride" and "Time Renegade." He also appeared in the dramas "King 2 Hearts" and "You're The Best Lee Soon Shin." Aside from that he has a successful musical theater career, appearing in such shows as "Hedwig The Angry Inch" and "Spring Awakening."
Kwon Soo Kyung, who directed the quirky films "Fly Me To The Moon" and "Barefoot Ki Bong," will direct "Brothers."
Yoo Young Ah, who wrote "11 AM" with Daniel Choi and "No Breathing," starring Lee Jong Suk, has written the screenplay.
Filming begins in October. The movie premieres in 2016.
