BoA, the kpop singer who has trained for stardom since she was 11 years old, is taking a new turn in her career. With the recent release of her Hollywood dance movie, "Make Your Move 3D," and her recently confirmed role in a new drama "Hope for Dating," the singing sensation is now focusing her attention on acting.

The new two-part drama will co-star Daniel Choi, who played a policeman-turned-hacker in the cyber-detective drama "Phantom" and as a musician in the musical drama "The Musical."

In "Hope for Dating," BoA will play a woman who has had no luck with dating, always winding up with the wrong guy. Her co-star Daniel Choi will be a dating agency expert who gives her advice and may be able to turn her love life around. "Hope for Dating" will finish filming in August. No broadcast date has yet been set.

The drama production's director Lee Eun Jin was impressed when BoA came to read for the part and said he fell for the singer's passion and hard work ethic.

Before she appeared in the Hollywood dance film, BoA's previous acting experience includes a cameo in the drama "Athena: Goddess of War" and doing voiceovers for the Korean and Japanese versions of the children's film "Over the Hedge." Being multilingual has helped the singer's career as she released singles in both the U.S. and Japan. With her Japanese album, "Listen to My Heart," she became the first Korean pop star to become a hit in Japan. She is one of only three artists to have six consecutive albums reach the number one spot on the Oricon charts. She plans to release another Japanese single in the fall. BoA, whose stage name stands for Beat of Angel, has been called the Queen of Korean Pop.

BoA plays Aya, a dancer in the Hollywood film "Make Your Move 3D." The film was released in the Netherlands earlier this month with more European release dates taking place through August. No other release dates have been set.

While she has not previously had an acting role in a drama, BoA played an important part in making a current drama more memorable. She contributed a song to the OST of the KBS drama "Shark." She sings the ballad "Between Heaven and Hell," the haunting main theme of the story of love and revenge.
