'Reply 1988' Hye Ri Says She'll Go To College
"Reply 1988" is a series of dramas that is set in a certain periodical era. As it reflects a certain year in Korean history, the past reply series has been set in 1998 and 1994 as the actors gained a lot of popularity bringing up the trends of the past and all relevant musical and artistic culture.
In "Reply 1988" Hye Ri said that she was going to go to college.
On the 4th episode of tvN Friday/Saturday drama "Reply 1988" (script Lee Woo Jung, director Shin Won Ho) Duk Sun (played by Hye Ri) declared to her family members that she was going to go to college.
On this day, she said to her mother and father, "I'm going to go to college. So can you pay for a tutor starting today?" With that, her father Dong Il (played by Sung Dong Il) said, "Just get tutored from your sister who goes to Seoul National University. His intention was that she should just learn from her older sister and save money.
Nonetheless, Duk Sun thought back to the experience of getting tutored by her sister Bora (played by Ryu Hye Young) and said, 'I'm never going to do this even if I die" and refused. Duk Sun was a person that was ranked 999th place as she was more interested in looks than studying.
With this, it will be interesting to see how this series will continue the trend of the Reply series and attract a viewership spanning decades that goes from the 80s and 90s
