Ha Ji Won dressed up like a man and went to her enemy so that she wouldn't become a court maid.

On the first episode of MBC Monday/Tuesday drama "Empress Qi," Qi Seung Nyang (played by Ha Ji Won)'s childhood scenes were portrayed.

Shen Seung Nyang was being sold with her mother as a court maid, the young prince Wang Yu (played by Ju Jin Mo) felt badly about them and let all the court maids go free from prison.

Dang Ki Se (played by Kim Jung Hyun) who was chasing after the court maid started to shoot arrows mercilessly and Seung Nyang's mother gets killed after being hit by one.

Before Seung Nyang's mother dies, she gives a ring to her and said, "Your birth father is alive.  Go to Kae Song and look for a person with the last name Qi who has the same ring."

However, loking for the birth father wasn't easy and Seung Nyang was hit by Wang Ko (played by Lee Jae Yong)'s horse by accident.  Here, Seung Nyang's identity as a woman was reveleased and she was about to be sent into the court as a court maid.  Here, she dressed like a man and said to Wang Ko, "Please take me in."

Afterwards, Seung Nyang showed her martial arts skills and shot arrows to be a servant of wang Ko and viewers who watched this were surprised by her perfect shooting skills and her cold charisma.
