The staff of SBS's "The King: Eternal Monarch" has released their response regarding the reports of the one-sided removal of the show's cast member.

On Monday, March 30, a source from the drama gave out an official statement responding to an article written by the Market News, which reported that the upcoming drama made an unfair decision by axing an actor without discussion or notice.

The staff added that the article also talked about their abuse of power in terms of casting, which they then claimed as a false accusation. After conducting some investigation and checking the facts with the casting director team, they found out that the actor that was mentioned in the "casting power abuse" reports was cast in October of 2019, portraying the role as a detective.Later on, the script was reconstructed and the character's age became older and the final casting fell through.

However, a delay happened during the casting director's process of communicating the casting news and it resulted in a miscommunication with the actor's agency. Then, the casting director of the show called the agency to apologize and give his explanation for the reason why the casting failed. Both the actor and his agency understoond the situation and it was resolved peacefully.

"The King: Eternal Monarch" staff expressed that with great sadness, these negative reports were released ahead of their premiere. The staff added that the upcoming series will continue to do their best in order to create a good project for the viewers.

"The King: Eternal Monarch" was helmed by director Baek Sang Hoon and penned by one of the hit drama writers Kim Eun Sook. It's a much-anticipated fantasy-romance drama, starring the sought-after actors Lee Min Ho, Kim Go Eun, and Woo Do Hwan.
