Jung Il Woo Receives Offer to Star in Historical Drama "Bossam – Stealing Destiny"

It's quite a busy year for actor Jung Il Woo! As reported by a source from HB Entertainment, the actor's agency, it's said that Jung Il Woo is currently looking over a project that was offered to him, to star in the forthcoming historical series "Bossam - Stealing Destiny."

The drama is set in the ruling of King Gwanghaegun in the Joseon dynasty and will feature the story of a particular person who, by accident, captures Princess Soo Kyung.

Reportedly, Jung Il Woo was offered to play as a lead character. He will portray the male protagonist Ba Woo, a matchmaker of the widowed wives who no longer believe that they could still find love and get married once again to a lineup of some potential husbands.

Years before, when Ba Woo was in his younger days, someone set him up for a scheme. However, he was able to run away and escape. And since then, he was forced to go around using different personas and live in poverty.

In 2006, Jung Il Woo started his career in the entertainment industry in the family-themed drama "High Kick." Then, in 2011 his breakthrough role came when he starred in the romantic fantasy series "49 Days."

In the same year, he was able to land his next lead role after 2009's "Moon River" in the romantic-comedy drama "Flower Boy Ramen Shop." The following year, his fame skyrocketed when he took part in the critically acclaimed project "The Moon Embracing the Sun."

Jung Il Woo's current project is JTBC's romantic-comedy series titled "Sweet Munchies," with co-actors Kang Ji Young and Lee Hak Joo.

The drama "Bossam - Stealing Destiny" will feature a story of love and life that will strongly face the issue of mistreatment towards women and the less fortunate. This will be helmed by PD Kwon Seok Jang of "Avengers Social Club" (2017) and penned by screenwriters Kim Ji Soo of the upcoming "Birthcare Center" (2020) and Park Cheol.

"Bossam - Stealing Destiny" is scheduled to broadcast in early 2021.

In the meantime, catch Jung Il Woo in JTBC's "Sweet Munchies" on at 9:30 p.m. KST.

Jung Il Woo was born on September 9, 1987. He is the son of a former television news anchorman.

In August 2006, the actor was involved in a car accident while riding with childhood friend and fellow actor Lee Min Ho. He sustained some injuries, and on the other hand, Lee Min Ho was severely injured due to the unfortunate accident.

Fast Forward to November 2016, Jung Il Woo was diagnosed with a cerebral aneurysm. He would have been exempted from enlisting due to having this sickness, but he still went on to pursue his service in December of the same year and was discharged on November 30, 2018.
