MBC is currently getting ready for the upcoming 2020 Idol Star Athletics Championships. It's a South Korean television program that started in 2010.

This program showcase celebrities like Korean pop idols and groups, who all compete in different sport events. The said show is broadcast by the MBC network. Fans of the participating groups are often invited to be part of the show as the audience and they are given the chance to enjoy their bonding time with their favorite idols.

MBC earlier stated that whether sports event will push through or not was still under discussion. However, on August 4, the network confirmed that they are going to move forward with the Chuseok special of the 2020 Idol Star Athletics Championships.

But because of COVID-19, the show will be filmed without the presence of the audience. Fans meet and greet sessions with their idols, which took place in the previous years, will not be happening this year. Nevertheless, the production of the show is still looking to find a safe method for the fans to be able to communicate with their idols as well as enjoy the show.

The MBC network will set up precautionary and safer measures such as social distancing between the participating groups of idol athletes during the preparation time before the event starts and they also hired a highly prepared medical team for the said event.

The all new 2020 Idols Star Athletics Championships will push through with the event that doesn't require personal contacts like archery and eSports. The show is also planning to put up new events that will lower down the contacts between the athletes as much as possible.

Lastly, the production team expressed that with a wide range of preventive measures they will do everything to keep the safety of the cast and staff as their first priority. The production added that they will do their best to go on with the show with everyone participating in the event with an ease of mind and everyone will feel safe and worry-free.
