Namgoong Min In Talks To Lead New JTBC Series Penned by ‘Encounter’ Writer
Namgoong Min is having a back-to-back Kdrama portraying the same character.
After conforming to headline the upcoming series of SBS, the award-winning actor is courted to star in JTBC's webtoon-based series.
Namgoong Min Offered to Star in Upcoming Kdrama' Sacred Divorce'
According to Osen, the actor is considered to play the male lead in JTBC's new drama.
From an elite National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent in "The Veil," Namgoong Min is offered to play the character of a 45-year-old divorce lawyer, Shin Sung Han, in "Sacred Divorce."
As mentioned, the upcoming Kdrama is based on the Kakao webtoon of the same name that depicts a chaotic story about Shin Sung Han.
In the drama, he grew up in a wealthy family, but he managed to pass the bar exam later than other students because of an unfortunate incident.
At 39, he became a divorce lawyer, where he encountered various cases.
Interestingly, this will be penned by Yoo Young Ah, who is also the genius behind "Run-Off," "Encounter," and Son Ye Jin's comeback Kdrama "Thirty-Nine."
In addition, JTBC's "Sacred Divorce" is scheduled to release in 2023.
Namgoong Min to Star in SBS' 'One Thousand Won Lawyer'
The 43-year-old actor is making a comeback to the small screen with his new Kdrama "One Thousand Won Lawyer."
On January 7, Namgoong Min's agency, 935 Entertainment, confirmed that the actor is being courted to headline the cast of the SBS series.
The forthcoming Kdrama follows the story of a skilled lawyer who often causes problems in their department.
Despite being a troublemaker, he only charges 1000 KRW or 0.83 USD as his attorney's fee.
"One Thousand Won Lawyer" won the 2015 SBS Script Contest and was penned by the "Defendant" writers Choi Soo Jin and Choi Chang Hwan.
Namgoong Min's Success Through 'The Veil'
Before his back-to-back series "Sacred Divorce" and "One Thousand Won Lawyer," Namgoong Min once again earned praise after his action thriller series "The Veil."
Released in September 2021, the MBC series captivated millions of viewers' hearts with its jaw-dropping scenes and revelations.
He portrayed the legendary National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent Han Ji Hyuk who went missing for years and returned only to find the traitor who ruined his life.

"The Veil" director Kim Sung Yong lauded the actor for his dedication to his role and undeniable skill portraying Jan Ji Hyuk on a different level.
He said that it is "impossible to imagine Han Ji Hyuk without Namgoong Min," adding that everything about him completely embodied the character.
As for the possibility of "The Veil" returning for a second season, director Kim Sung Yong said he had high hopes for its sequel.
"Personally, I have hopes for a second season that could broaden the world of 'The Veil,' born from our experience and know-how with the production."
Interestingly, Namgoong Min took home the Daesang (Grand Prize) award for his iconic role.
During his acceptance speech, he admitted that it "feels strange to receive an award at the end of the year" adding that it has been a long time since he took home a trophy from MBC.
