Alchemy of Souls

Everyone is just having an "Alchemy of Souls" withdrawal months after its conclusion. Starring Jung So Min, Lee Jae Wook and Hwang Minhyun, the drama painted the weekend nights with romance and magic.

Thankfully, Part 2 of the series is currently on its way! While waiting for the second installment, let's look back at the most memorable Lee Jae Wook moments in the series.

1. Introduction of Drop-Dead Gorgeous Jang Uk

In the first episode of "Alchemy of Souls," viewers meet Jang Uk (Lee Jae Wook), a mage who doesn't know how to wield a sword and cast magic spells as his energy has been sealed.

Because of this, many people in their country believe that he's weak and good for nothing. However, he proves everyone wrong as he flaunts his toned body and defined muscles, enough evidence that he has been training really hard to be a mage.

Apart from that, it also serves as a treat to fans who love muscular men and handsome actors on screen.

2. Jang Uk's Daring Personality

Although he's branded as a person with rash behavior, viewers had their jaws dropped when he provoked the Crown Prince (Shin Seung Ho) in the drama to the point where His Majesty asked His men to kill Jang Uk.

Thankfully, the two accepted each other's duel invitation, eager to know who's the better mage in Daeho.

Unbeknownst to other mages, Jang Uk has been secretly training himself with the help of the powerful shadow assassin Mu Deok (Jung So Min), and has reached the most difficult skill of magic.

In the series, he mastered the skill of Tansu where he can collect the energy of the water and use it as a weapon, leaving everyone in awe and defeating the Crown Prince.

Despite his losses, Jang Uk never showed any signs of defeat, thus proving his determination. He was also able to show his skills by picking up certain strategies from his opponents.

In addition to that, he was also able to read Master Seo's love letter that only a new great mage can read. Indeed, he was born to be a mage!

4. Jang Uk's Suave and Romantic Side

Rather romantic, Jang Uk also grew closer with his personal maid Mu Deok. The two won the hearts of viewers, making hearts flutter every episode.

In particular, his line "I thought your eyes were the only pretty ones about you... Now, you look pretty no matter what" sends the fans haywire.

Not only is he suave, but he's a huge romantic! Just like his father, Jang Gang!

5. Jang Uk's Phoenix-Like Resurrection

At the end of the series, Jang Uk meets his untimely demise after he was killed by none other than his lover, who was under a sorcery created by Jin Mu (Jo Jae Yoon).

But because he was born with the energy of the King's star, and has mastered the great skills of a mage, he was able to survive.

When his body was burned at Songrim, he leaves everyone in awe as he rises above it like a mighty phoenix.
