'Alchemy of Souls Part 2' Unveils New Character Posters
Lee Jae Wook and Go Yoon Jung's character posters for "Alchemy of Souls Part 2" are finally revealed!
On November 16, tvN shared the individual posters of lead actors Lee Jae Wook and Go Yoon Jung for "Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow," the second part of the hit series of the same name that aired in summer of 2022, led by Lee Jae Wook and Jung So Min.
It follows the story of mages whose fates become twisted because of a spell that shifts people's souls. The second part of the series begins three years later after the catastrophe that took place in Part 1.
Lee Jae Woook, who takes on the role of Jang Uk, shows courageous stance and ominous aura in his character poster. The way he holds his sword also gives regal aura, signifying his royal blood.
In particular, the text that reads "Dark and insane. I should have died that time," raises curiosity as to what kind of story Jang Uk will show after he rose from the dead three years ago.
Meanwhile, Go Yoon Jung, who plays the role of Naksu, the shadow assassin who previously lived inside Jung So Min's body, captures the beauty and mystery that her name beholds.

She personified the red rose flower that symbolizes admiration and romance. The phrase "I really want to know who I am," and the longing in her eyes, heralds her biggest dilemma of losing her own memories.
'Alchemy of Souls Part 2' Receives Mixed Reactions Over Plot
Jang Uk (Lee Jae Wook) and Cho Yeong's (Go Yoon Jung) names translate to shining and shadow spirit, respectively-like light and shadow, they are never meant to be separated.
With this, "Alchemy of Souls Part 2" receives mixed reactions because of the route they are trying to take: losing memories or the amnesia trope.
Many fans expressed their distaste, saying that the narrative is cliche. The storyline doesn't work, especially when they fell in love with one another while possessing the power of their jade stones.
They both won't recognise each other with their eyes (Yeong because she lost her memories and Jang Uk because he never saw her real face), but through their hearts, their hearts will know. It's going to be so delicious, full of angst and thrill. #AlchemyOfSoulsS2 pic.twitter.com/NeAtN47UJS

So they just confirmed Yeong have lost her memories and she is searching for them. Uk's character poster says he is "An ominous and crazy guy." So excited to see how these changes in their characters will affect their relationship.#AlchemyOfSoulsS2 #AlchemyOfSoulsLightAndShadow pic.twitter.com/uSt91oKUOY

#AlchemyOfSoulsS2 idk why but it makes sense for cho yeong to forget about jang uk... the alchemy of souls is such a powerful spell and she has lived inside the most powerful priestess' body... it makes sense for me... idk, just gotta trust the hong sisters, i guess. pic.twitter.com/i7kQuhkEdb

One viewer wrote, "It's [amnesia plot] heart wrenching and overrated." Meanwhile, some fans seemed to like the idea and are very much thrilled.
