Han Hyo Joo Clarifies Tax Evasion Issues
On June 13, Han Hyo Joo created a huge buzz online after reports about her tax evasion received attention.
According to the news reports, the Seoul Regional Tax Office filed an irregular tax audit against Han Hyo Joo. They imposed an additional fee of more than 60 million to 70 million KRW (approximately 55,000 USD) for underreporting taxes.
The public weighed in on the issue, expressing their support as well as disappointment towards the "W: Two Worlds" actress.
On the same day, Han Hyo Joo's agency, BH Entertainment, responded to the reports. The actress' side denied all reports, saying that there were no substantial issues nor omissions that would raise tax evasion suspicions.

"Han Hyo Joo received a regular tax audit," a representative from the agency stated. "There was only an accounting error on the auditor's side which resulted in the actress' additional charges."
BH Entertainment assured the public that the company including Han Hyo Joo have paid taxes with honesty and responsibility, and will continue to pay dutifully going forward.
In particular, Han Hyo Joo is a dutiful tax payer and has served as a National Tax Service ambassador in 2011. She has also received a commendation from the president for being a good payer in 2014.

Despite the issues, Han Hyo Joo continues her preparation for her much anticipated return to the Hallyu scene this 2023.
