"The Escape of the Seven" is hit with formal complaints after receiving criticism from viewers regarding the drama's unrealistic story.

Despite the successful pilot week of the SBS series, the revenge drama faces massive controversy for its overly-provocative plot.

'The Escape of the Seven' Criticized for 'Overly-Provocative' Story

In an exclusive report cited by Star News, the National Security Commission has received a total of eight complaints regarding the content featured in "The Escape of the Seven" episodes 1 and 2.

The department did not disclose the contents filed against the drama, but the highlight of it was the story's overly-provocative premise.

Due to this, the National Defense Commission plans to review the contents of the civil complaint filed and decide whether to submit it to the deliberation agenda.

It can be recalled that the new series gained criticism as soon as the pilot episode aired. Viewers pointed out that the show featured stories that are too severe for a TV show, as "The Escape of the Seven" illustrates child abuse and teenage pregnancy.

In "The Escape of the Seven" episodes 1 and 2, which aired on September 15 and 16, the story featured a high school student named Bang Da Mi, played by Jung La El, who experienced violence from her biological mother, Geum Ra Hee, portrayed by Hwang Jung Eum, after failing to please her grandfather.

Ra Hee's goal is to use Bang Da Mi to get investment funds from her father-in-law for an upcoming project for her agency.

Meanwhile, Bang Da Mi's nightmare continues after she meets the campus' famous student, Ham Mo Ne, played by Lee Yoo Bi. She wants to become famous so badly that she will do whatever it takes to become a star.

However, she gets impregnated but hides it from her family, school, and everyone else.

This is where Da Mi gets involved after Mo Ne frames her and pins the incident to her.

Because of the scandal, everyone turned their backs on Da Mi except for her optimistic parents, who believed that it wasn't Bang Da Mi.
