What's Next for Gong Yoo?

In 2021, the actor did a back-to-back K-drama, headlining the star-studded sci-fi mystery series "The Silent Sea" with Bae Doona and playing a cameo role in Netflix's "Squid Game."

In the same year, Gong Yoo returned to the small screen after two years for the sci-fi movie "Seobok" with Park Bo Gum.

However, in 2022 and 2023, the top star seemed to go on hiatus but was active with endorsement deals and fashion events.

Interestingly, it seemed like Gong Yoo would be making a bold comeback in 2024 after confirming two upcoming projects.

One of the things that fans and viewers are excited about is reprising his role in "Squid Game" season 2.

After Netflix and drama officials confirmed that the hit K-drama will have a sequel, director Hwang Dong Hyuk confirmed Gong Yoo's appearance and said that he will continue to play the role of the mysterious salesman.

It can be recalled that the actor played the mysterious salesman at the train station who was recruiting people to join the game.

Viewers were delighted to see Gong Yoo play an unusual character, along with lead star Lee Jung Jae.

As for "Squid Game" season 2, viewers are looking forward to seeing if the sequel will tell more about the background story of his character.

Other than the highly anticipated sequel, Gong Yoo will headline an upcoming K-drama, "The Trunk."

Directed by Kim Kyu Tae of "It's Okay That's Love," "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo," and "Our Blues," the forthcoming series is a melodrama that follows the story of a woman who runs a fixed-term marriage service agency called NM.

However, she found herself entangled with music producer Han Jung Won, played by Gong Yoo.

The South Korean top star will be working alongside Seo Hyun Jin, who takes on the role of No In Ji.

Like "Squid Game" season 2, the release date of "The Trunk" is set to hit the small screen in 2024.
