‘My Demon’ Records Its Lowest Viewership Rating Ahead of Finale

Before its finale week, "My Demon" received its lowest rating score and some netizens expressed their disappointment about the drama. 

'My Demon' Episode 12 Records Lowest Rating of 2% 

SBS' rom-com series "My Demon" is working toward the grand finale, yet even a few episodes away, it delivered sad news to the viewers. While the drama received a tremendous amount of spotlight for featuring two of the most gorgeous stars as the main leads, the viewer ratings have plummeted over the weeks already. 

According to the data released by Nielsen Korea, the latest "My Demon" episode 12 recorded an average score of 2.9 percent, which is said to be the lowest yet, after falling gradually from 4.7 percent for episode 8. 

K-Netz and Viewers Call Out Kim Yoo Jung & Song Kang's Lack of Acting

The Korean audience believed that the big factor to blame for the low rating was the acting. It is given that the main stars Kim Yoo Jung and Song Kang are very visually pleasing, however, many criticized them for their lack of acting skills. They also called out the scriptwriter for the plot. 

A commenter said that the visuals are amazing, for sure. But nothing could help him overlook the lack of acting skills from both leads.

Someone pointed out that the plot feels a little bit silly. He added that the male lead was not that good in acting and it made the female lead's acting look bad too. They also mentioned that SBS put too much faith in the visuals of the protagonists, and now the show is failing.

K-Netz Express Their Disappointments Over 'My Demon' Low Rating

"It's not the greatest show. But it was sold overseas, so I don't think it's going to be a total loss."

"It doesn't matter how good-looking the protagonists are. Actors need to act well. It's not like viewers watch K-Dramas just to stare at beautiful faces."

"Honestly, I have no idea what the scriptwriter is trying to say. The plot is all over the place. I would like to keep watching for the cast, but I can't focus on the episodes at all."

"I can't believe a SBS K-drama in a Friday-Saturday airing spot can dip to a 2 percent rating. And it's not like Song Kang and Kim Yoo Jung are small names. The quality must be more sluggish than I'm imagining."

Someone commented that Song Kang should work on his pronunciation more and should improve it. For Kim Yoo Jung, the commenter said that she can't seem to pull off the right adult roles. Something about her styling for this show is awkward too. They added that the director was not meticulous enough for the drama's aesthetic and the script is a bit lacking.

Furthermore, "My Demon" only has two weeks remaining until the finale. Amid the criticisms that the show and the main leads received, the actors did prove their undeniable chemistry, which is enough to get the viewers speculating about their romance.
