Lee Je Hoon’s New Drama ‘Chief Detective 1958’ Unveils Teaser Featuring Choi Bool Am

"Chief Detective 1958" continues to tease viewers with a sneak peek of the highly-anticipated K-drama, headlined by Lee Je Hoon. 

After MBC introduced the lead stars, the broadcast network welcomed the veteran actor who played the leading role back in the '70s. 

'Chief Detective 1958' Welcomes Veteran Actor Choi Bool Am

Choi Bool Am reprises his role as Park Young Han for a special appearance in "Chief Detective 1958."

The veteran actor will also play the older version of Lee Je Hoon, who will be headlined as the young detective. 

Choi Bool Am played the iconic character for 18 years as "Chief Inspector," running from 1971 to 1989. 

Per reports, he will appear in "Chief Detective 1958" Episode 1 as the series depicts the story of the legendary Park Young Han. 

With the veteran actor's special cameo, "Chief Detective 1958" director Kim Sung Hoo feels very honored "to have been able to work" with the actor and sees this as something "inevitable."

"By showing the elderly version of Park Young Han, who might seem ordinary on the outside, I wanted to say, 'Okay, look carefully from now on. I'll show you how extraordinary this seemingly ordinary person was.'"

In addition, the director also teased viewers about Choi Bool Am's cameo, saying that "the true chief inspector is back.'"

Furthermore, viewers will get to see more original actors join the series, as Lee Soon Jae and Park Geun Hyung will also have a special cameo and reprise their roles in the upcoming K-drama. 

'Chief Detective 1958': What to Expect in Lee Je Hoon's New Drama? 

As mentioned, "Chief Detective 1958" is based on the original series "Chief Inspector."

A prequel to the 1971 K-drama, the series will focus on Park Young Han's journey as a detective before making a name for himself in the police force. 

In the upcoming drama, he will be working with a group of passionate detectives from Seongnam Police Station, whose mission is to break the norms of corruption.

Joining Lee Je Hoon as the lead star are Choi Woo Sung and Yoon Hyun Soo as rookie detectives Cho Kyung Hwan and Seo Ho Jeong. 

In addition, Lee Dong Hwi will also play a significant role as Park Young Han's right hand, as will veteran detective Kim Sang Soon. 

Apart from the characters at Jongnam Police Station, "Chief Detective 1958" also introduces Seo Eun Soo as bookstore owner Lee Hye Joo, the love interest of Park Young Han. 

Viewers will get to see amazing chemistry and an entertaining story as "Chief Detective 1958" debuts on April 19 at 9:50 p.m. KST via MBC.
