Actress Shim Eun Kyung has been acting for ten years and although she is only 19, this year she may become a mega-star thanks to her role as a grandmother.

In the hit k-movie, "Miss Granny," she plays Oh Doo Ri, a 70-something woman who winds up back in her 20-year-old body.

 "It was very hard for me to portray such an old woman, so I tried to focus on the role and thought a lot about my mom during the shoot," she said.

The film is close to her heart because it's her first role as an adult. And moviegoers love her character in it. The film already sold over 20 million tickets in less than a month

Here are some more facts that may interest you about this promising young actress.

1. She attends school in New York City. She took a break from acting and moved to the U.S. to attend a high school in Pittsburgh. She now attends the Professional Children's School a New York school for child actors in sixth through 12th grade.

2. She played a younger version of actress Lee Ji Ah in "The Legend" and she also shot a commercial with Lee Ji Ah's secret husband, iconic pop star Seo Taiji. Rumors said that she was their daughter, which is not true. Nor did she know they were married.

She did, however, go all fangirl on Seo Taiji when she shot the commercial. In an interview for TenAsia, she said, "I jumped for joy when I found out that I had been given the chance to shoot a commercial with him. When we actually began shooting, he talked to me and when he stroked my hair, all I said to him was "thank you." I think I was too nervous."

3. She likes to play the drums and is a drummer in a band named Chick and Candy. Playing the drums, she says, has been a lifelong dream. She would also like to direct films some day.

4. After playing a 70-year-old in a 20-year-old body, she would like to next portray a character that is actually her own age.

"I'd like to play a trendy 20-something, or take a serious role to show a whole new side of me," she said.

5. To celebrate the fact that her film sold more than five million tickets, the actress and Jin Young of B1A4 hosted a free hug event in Seoul's Times Square Plaza. It was her first time at such an event.

"I am very nervous, but at the same time happy", she said at the event.
Two thousand fans attended.
