Micron Technology has probably hit the jackpot from an undisclosed customer that paid a total amount of $250 million. The rumored customer is said to be Apple.

In a recent quarterly report of Micron Technology, which has a downloadable version from analyst Mark Margolis' website, the company received the huge paycheck "from a customer for product to be supplied through September 2016."

Previously, Apple uses Elpida DRAM chips for its products.  Apple's partnership with the Japanese company began in 2012, approximately supplying 50% of its production to Apple.

In July 2013, Micron Technology acquired Elpida for $2 billion.

Apple products like the iPhone 5s and iPad Air are presently carrying Elpida's LPDDR3 DRAM memory. Technically, Apple is using Micron products already due to the acquisition.

Micron Technology's LPDDR4 RAM memory is reportedly being prepared for utilization in Apple's 2014 lineup of devices.

According to CNET's Brooke Crothers, "Apple is expected to use Micron's newest DDR4 memory chips in upcoming products. DDR4 will be faster and more power efficient than the current DDR3 technology used widely in PCs, tablets, and smartphones."

Reynette Au, Micron Technology's vice president of wireless solutions marketing, mentioned the improvements of the new chip, stating that "with LPDDR4, systems can have double the bandwidth at the same power profile as LPDDR3, making it the ideal mobile memory technology to power next-generation smartphones and tablets that feature cutting-edge photo and video technology and ultra-HD displays."
