"Sons of Anarchy" cast Charlie Hunnam regretted dumping the lead role for "Fifty Shades of Grey" as he said he's unfamiliar with the body of work of his replacement, Jamie Dornan. However, the 34-year-old actor is willing to attend the premiere, if asked.

"I felt like I had an interesting take on that character and felt like I could have done a better job of playing Christian Grey, otherwise I wouldn't have taken it on in the first place," he told Life& Style.

He said that it's "heartbreaking" to say goodbye to the role of Christian Grey when "you put the time into something like that and a character comes alive in your mind."

According to Entertainment News TV, "Sons of Anarchy" cast Charlie Hunnam was set to play the rich businessman with a penchant for sadism but had to drop out due to scheduling conflict with his TV series, his upcoming movie "Crimson Peak" and his personal life.

The statement released by Universal Pictures and published by The Hollywood Reporter said:

"The filmmakers of 'Fifty Shades of Grey' and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam's immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey."

"Sons of Anarchy" cast Charlie Hunnam was eventually replaced by Jamie Dornan who will play Christian Grey in "Fifty Shades of Grey" opposite Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele.

The 34-year-old actor admitted back in November that he wasn't familiar with "Fifty Shades of Grey" cast Jamie Dornan's body of work to make an assessment whether he will do a good job or not.

"I don't really know his work, but I know (director Same Taylor-Johnson) is amazing. She has fantastic taste so I'm sure he'll do a great job," he told TMZ.

Meanwhile, "Sons of Anarchy" cast Charlie Hunnam clearly holds no grudge and even gave the "Fifty Shades of Grey" a major hint: "If they invite me to the premiere, I will go see it there. If not, I'll go and buy tickets on opening night."
