In recent news, Channing Tatum officially announced that he will star in an X-Men origins movie as Gambit.
While promoting "22 Jump Street" in New York with co-star Jonah Hill, Channing confirmed that he will get his solo debut as Gambit in an origin movie before he performs as the mutant in "X-Men: Apocalypse."
The actor hopes to bring a unique approach to the series of X-Men films.
"It will probably just be a standalone film before 'Apocalypse.' That’s if it does well. If it doesn’t do well I probably won’t make it into Apocalypse [laughs]. It would be an honor to get to do it. Marvel is such an amazing, huge machine," said Channing to We Got This Covered . "Just to get to embody the character would be an honor. We’re going to try and change it up a little bit and do something slightly different than what your normal superhero movie is. So we’ll see if it works."
Since "X-Men: Apocalypse" is allegedly coming to the big screen in May 2016, it can only be assumed that the Gambit spinoff will appear in the next two years.
