Neowin has been informed that Microsoft will be releasing two 3D Touch phones. The two models are said to become available for purchase towards the end of the year.

Rumor has it that Microsoft is working on a new gesture-based 3D interface and touch-enabled Windows Phone platform. This new 3D Touch UI is given the codename Nokia McLaren.

Although this smartphone could be launched with a different name. McLaren is said to have a 5.2-inch full HD (1080p) capacitive display and a 20-megapixel PureView camera. The smartphone comes with 64GB internal memory, with options for lower storage space available for lower prices.

Aside from Nokia McLaren, another 3D Touch smartphone is also going to released by Microsoft. The other device boasts a huge 6-inch display that is likely to go on sale later this year as well. The rumored phablet is believed to replace the Lumia 1520. Other details on this device is yet to be released soon.

The 6-inch Lumia smartphone might be the same device with 3D Touch UI that was leaked earlier today, powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor paired with 2GB of RAM. The rumored phablet should should also have 32GB of internal memory.

Microsoft's 3D Touch UI is only added to selected smartphones. This is to distinguish the high-end lineup from the low- and mid-end smartphones. With the new 3D Touch UI, Microsoft plans to justify the high price that Windows Phone fans will pay for these top-notch devices. Windows Phone will probably offer different experiences on high-end and low-end devices.

The more one will pay for a Windows Phone handset, the more immersive the experience. This might sound great in theory, but let's see how this will work out for Microsoft on longer term. Stay tuned for more on this one.
