"There's still something for us to do, we haven't lost a match and we are working to keep it that way." Said Netherlands coach Louis Van Gaal.
"I've been focusing on Brazil and I hope that I can prepare my players so we can play a good match and defeat Brazil for third place. That way we will be writing history, we will say that we played seven consecutive matches and never lost."
True enough, Netherlands had a good run for this year's World Cup tournament, but losed their most important game against Argentina in the semifinal. Now they have to compete with the sad Brazilians, who suffered an embarrassing 7-1 loss against finalist Germany.
"We are realizing that there is something else we need to defend and we have to go for it," Van Gaal said, taking back what he said about the third place matches being nothing but a placeholder. "Never a Dutch team returned home unbeaten, and that has to be the next target."
This third place match is a second already for Holland, after being beaten by Brazil in the 1998 World Cup semifinals. However, they fell on the fourth place after Croatia beat them.
"Losing hurts a lot, the pain doesn't go away so fast, but it's part of sports," admitted striker Dirk Kuyt. "There's always the next match. We want to win here and return unbeaten. It will be easier to get on the plane with a good feeling. It would be wonderful to close this World Cup by winning. We are still not satisfied, but third place gives you a much better feeling than fourth place."
On the other hand, Brazil would still have to go without Neymar, but the fact that captain Thiago Silva is back gives them a ray of hope. They, too, have the reason to keep fighting til the end, especially that they are this year's hosts.
Prediction: If Brazil can't score during the 90 minutes of the match, then Netherlands will win over penalties. I still believe that Brazil can win over them at 1-0, and it will be through David Luiz.
