After many weeks of speculation, LeBron James has finally come up with a decision. The four-time MVP will be fighting his way to the finals once more but not with the Miami Heat. James has decided to pursue his NBA career back to where he started, with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
According to James in an interview with Lee Jenkins "Before anyone ever cared where I would play basketball, I was a kid from Northeast Ohio. It's where I walked. It's where I ran. It's where I cried. It's where I bled. It holds a special place in my heart. People there have seen me grow up. I sometimes feel like I'm their son. Their passion can be overwhelming. But it drives me. I want to give them hope when I can. I want to inspire them when I can. My relationship with Northeast Ohio is bigger than basketball. I didn't realize that four years ago. I do now."
James was criticized after leaving Cleveland for Miami four years ago, and now he has made his way home. James chose a four year contract worth $88 million compared to Miami's offer of a five year contract worth 122 million. According to him "I looked at other teams, but I wasn't going to leave Miami for anywhere except Cleveland. The more time passed, the more it felt right. This is what makes me happy."
Although James has not signed a contract yet, he is definite that he will be wearing a Cavaliers jersey in the coming NBA season. He said of his reason for leaving Cleveland "When I left Cleveland, I was on a mission. 'I was seeking championships, and we won two. But Miami already knew that feeling. Our city hasn't had that feeling in a long, long, long time. My goal is still to win as many titles as possible, no question. But what's most important for me is bringing one trophy back to Northeast Ohio."
James looks up to Ohio's standard in basketball saying "In Northeast Ohio, nothing is given. Everything is earned. You work for what you have."
Now that James has finally made his decision, surely the decision of the other Big Three member is something that a lot is looking forward to know.
