After the box office success of the "Sleeping Beauty" remake, "Maleficent," Disney will be releasing yet another retelling of a classic animation. The trailer for "Cinderella" was released last May as well as the official cast list.
The "Cinderella" movie release date has been announced to be March 13, 2015, the movie studio announced as they fixed their film lineup for the next couple of years.
The classic remake is made up of "Downtown Abbey" actress Lily James as Ella, "Game Of Thrones" star Richard Madden as Prince Charming/Kit, and Cate Blanchett as Ella's stepmother. It also stars Holliday Grainger and Sophie McShera as the evil stepsisters while Ben Chaplin will play Ella's father whose death leaves Ella orphaned.
Academy Award nominee Kenneth Brannagh is directing the film.
"Cinderella" will closely follow the plot of the original, with a slight difference of how Ella and Prince Charming meets. She meets "Kit" before the actual ball, and thinks he's a palace help instead of the actual crown prince.
Disney will also be retelling "Beauty And The Beast" after the "Cinderella" movie.
Reports have also surfaced of another Disney remake, this time the1941 Disney animation favorite, "Dumbo," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The animated movie was only 64 minutes long, and had an Oscar-nominated original song, "Baby Mine."
Dumbo tells the story of an orphaned baby elephant in the circus. He is ridiculed for his large ears. When he befriends a mouse named Timothy, the adorable Dumbo discovers that he can fly.
"Transformers: Age Of Extinction" writer Ehren Kruger has been tapped to write the screenplay "Dumbo," The Hollywood Reporter reports.
According to Metro, "Dumbo" will have a human aspect with a parallel story involving the animals in the circus. After about 70 years, Dumbo will finally have a chance to fly in real life, albeit with the help of special effects and CG elements.
