Oscar Pistorius Trial Photos: The Final Verdict Is Near; Look Back At The Grueling, Grief-Stricken And Tearful Court Days In Pictures

Look back at the 39 grueling days in court of the Oscar Pistorius trial in Johannesburg.

The Paralympian gold medalist shot his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, through a bathroom door February 14, last year. The next months would become one of the most highly publicized trial in South Africa.

Prosecutors tried him for premeditated murder, insisting that the double-amputee athlete had pulled the trigger with an intent to kill his model girlfriend. Pistorius' defense team, however, claims he had only taken the shot thinking that Steenkamp was an intruder in his home.

The 27-year-old South African athlete had often broken down in court, even vomiting at one point, after seeing pictures of his deceased girlfriend.

He also reportedly encountered a club brawl during the trial's break due to a feeling of “loneliness and alienation” according to his uncle.

Both teams will be meeting in court again on August 7 and 8 to present their final arguments before Judge Masipa issues her verdict about a month later. If found guilty, Pistorius could face life in prison.
