In her first stand-up comedy show "Lipshtick," Wendy Williams plans to address the speculation about her being born a man or woman.
The host of the "Wendy Williams Show" claims she has always dealt with people questioning her gender.
"People do think I was born a man," she said to ABC News . "That is absolutely not (true). I get it. I've got a strong face, a strong body, I'm 5'11. I wear wigs."
The 50-year-old also revealed how miserable she was during her adolescence.
"I had a very tortured childhood," said the 50-year-old. "I was tortured, they fat-shamed me. So, I want to talk about growing up. I want to answer the big question about the boobs. I will answer you straight and direct, if you are in Vegas."
Williams stresses that being called a man thickened her skin.
"There's no worse way to insult a woman than by saying she looks like a man, but once a woman gets over that, there is no stronger woman," she said.
Since her childhood wasn't the greatest, Williams is comfortable being the age she is.
"I didn't grow up the popular girl or the popular cheerleader. I've never been to a prom, I didn't have a lot of boyfriends, so I'm used to being on this side of life," she said.
Her stand-up show that appears in Las Vegas this week for one-night only is a dream come true.
"I've always been told I was funny," Williams said. "So, I said, 'I would like to do an evening of stand-up.' "
When Williams is not doing her show in New York City, she enjoys her life in New Jersey.
