The highly publicized South African celebrity case will finally reach its peak this Thursday, September 11. Judge Thokozile Masipa has already spent more than 30 days deliberating and deciding on the Oscar Pistorius trial.

After months of gritty cross-examinations and discussions in court, the Blade Runner's fate now rests in Judge Masipa's hands.

If found guilty of killing his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, whom he claims he accidentally shot on Valentines' Day last year, the Paralympian runner could face a lifetime in jail with a possibility of parole only possible after 25 years.

The Sunday Morning Herald likened the current case to OJ Simpson's trial, calling it the "trial of this century." Similarly, Simpson was also accused of killing his significant other. He was found not guilty of killing his wife and her lover 20 years ago.

Would the celebrity athlete receive the same ruling? Oscar Pistorius' trial did, afterall, get the same sensationalism as the OJ Simpson case.

The hashtags #OscarPistorius and #OscarTrial have already generated more than 2 million tweets from people who avidly kept up with the case since it started on March 3, reported the publication.

"The internet age and the absence of a jury system in the country has seen the conversation about Pistorius' guilt or innocence extend around the world," the SMH noted.

With the court allowing the 24/7 broadcast of the proceedings, Pistorius not only has to anxiously wait for the judge's final verdict but the whole world's as well.

With the Judge Masipa's final decision due out on Thursday, thousands of people are expected to tune in to livestreaming sites as well as live tweets about the case on Twitter.

Pistorius took to social media to thank his supporters and loved ones after both the prosecution and defense presented their final statements in court last August.

He wrote on Twitter, "Thank you to my loved ones and those that have been there for me, who have picked me up and helped me through everything."
