"Dracula Untold" movie news provides viewers a better look at the image of the vampire awaiting them in the upcoming action-adventure flick starring Luke Evans of "The Hobbit" fame.

Hero Complex revealed that this is the actor's first time to take on a leading man role in a Hollywood epic - and it is the most expansive character he has played to date. Previous "Dracula Untold" movie news divulged that Evans portrays Vlad Tepes, a desperate prince who gives himself up to dark forces in exchange for stupendous powers that allows him to overcome the invaders, thus saving his kingdom.

Contradicting the traditional image filmdom has painted of the iconic bloodsucker, Universal Pictures present Tepes in a different way. The producers and creators focused more on showing his human side, a more realistic approach as mentioned by Luke Evans in his quote, which he mentioned while they were on location in Belfast for the film's production last year, as reported by Hero Complex:

"We're almost turning the monster on its head in a way and allowing people to see Dracula in a different light," Evans said on the Belfast set of the film last year. "When you think of the word 'Dracula,' you think of this pale-faced, fanged man floating through an ancient house on top of a mountain. We are trying to slightly pull away from that and give it that punch of reality."

In Edward Douglas's recent interview with Evans for Shock Till You Drop, the actor further expounded on their specific approach to portraying the image of Vlad Tepes the "Impaler" as "Dracula."

The actor said that they were portraying the human story of the character, which makes it more relatable to the audience. Balancing his dark reputation with his humane side was a challenge they did not only overcome, but used advantageously to heighten further the realistic aspect of his complex persona.

Evans described the film as a large sweeping story that is tragic. It presents love lost, heartbreak, struggles and sacrifice.

"Dracula Untold" movie news featured on the Dracula Untold web site shared that Evans would appear alongside Sarah Gadon, Dominic Cooper, Diarmaid Murtagh and Samantha Barks. Gary Shore directed the epic film with Michael De Luca as producer.
