CTV News reported Jan Hooks dead from unreported causes.

Hooks' agent announced that her client has passed away in New York at 57 years of age on Thursday, October 9.

Jan Hooks was a popular cast member of "Saturday Night Live" on 1986-1991. Jan Hooks dead came as a sad news for SNL viewers. Hooks famously impersonated stars and public figures such as Hillary Clinton, Betty Ford and Nancy Reagan in SNL.

Hooks also popularized the "Sweeny Sisters" in her stint in SNL according to CTV News. Hooks famously played the make-believe role of Candy Sweeny. Her co-star, Nora Dunn impersonated the other Sweeny sister in the show, reported by CTV News.

Five years of stint in SNL paved the way for Hooks to star in the sitcom, "Designing Women." She also had occasional appearances in "30 Rock" and "3rd Rock From the Sun."

Other legendary roles that Jan Hooks portrayed included emotionally-moving Tammy Faye Baker.

Hooks popularized the character of tour guide, Alamo, in "Pee-Wee's Big Advenure," according to People.

Jan Hooks' last appearance on TV was a guest appearance in "30 Rock." In the episode, she portrayed the role of Jenna's mother Verna.

The entertainment industry will miss the laughter that Jan Hooks left. It has been a sad year for comedy stars. Fellow comediennes Robin Williams and Joan Rivers passed away earlier this year, too.
