Star Trek 3 Movie 2016: Characters From The Original Series To Reappear In The Upcoming Film? Plus Other Plot Details You Have To Know!
In recent reports, one can easily notice how the new director of Star Trek 3 movie set for release in 2016, sharply points out the redeeming factor of the sequel. In fact, Roberto Orci shared that the third installment of the rebooted series will be "closer to the original series than you have ever seen". He further adds that the adventure is going to be in deep space.
Speaking of the original feel of Star Trek, should fans now look forward to the reunion of William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy in the upcoming installment? While it is pretty much exciting to see Captain James T. Kirk and Spock together, Shatner has admitted that one of the issues involved in returning to the JJ-verse movies is the death of Kirk's character in Star Trek: Generations. However, Badass Digest provides an inside scoop on how Nimoy and Shatner could be pulling off their roles in Star Trek 3:
[Shatner's] scene will have him meeting Chris Pine. Also in that scene: Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy...it'll be future alt-timeline Kirk and Spock. Basically the scene will have Kirk and Spock interacting with their future selves.
No official statement about their reappearance has been released yet. For the time being, Star Trek 3 will begin shooting in the next six months, as per the actor who previously played Spock, Zachary Quinto. In his recent pronouncement shared with The Today Show:
"I think [the next Star Trek movie] is on the horizon", he said. "Things are rumbling, so I have a feeling that we will be back in production sometime in the next six months."
Meanwhile, its new director Roberto Orci tellsTrekMovie that first screenplay draft has been completed. Penned by JD Payne, Patrick McKay, and Orci himself, this milestone proves that the upcoming sequel is indeed trying to meet the release date set by Paramount, though the film coincides with other huge productions like Transformers 5. The team is also eyeing for the shoot to start in spring 2015.
With this, Orci shares "p & m & I wrote, "fade out" yesterday on first draft. things are moving." This update could also clear up all false allegations made earlier this month saying that the sequel is not being taken seriously. Such negative impression may be rooted from the prior Star Trek adaptations that disappointed a lot of fans across the globe. Now that it is in the creative hands of new directors and screenwriters, we could only hope for a better storyline and cinematography.
Online site, Blastr, recalls the statements made by one of its writers J.D. Pane during the LDS Film Festival, which somehow revealed a pinch of their target plot:
"We're trying to set up a kind of situation where you really could - and not in just an 'everything's relative' sort of moral relativism - you could be a good person of any creed or philosophical background and come down on both sides of how you should respond to this opportunity that the crew has.... that also has some pitfalls to it. Where you could argue very, very, very compellingly that 'this' is what you should do, and if you're advocating 'this' then it's actually evil.It's sort of the Adam and Eve thing, where should we eat the fruit or not eat the fruit? Well, there are some very compelling reasons why they should and why they shouldn't. So, similar kinds of things here that really give the whole movie and opportunity to sort of play with that, and have people come down on different sides and wrestle with it; then come to an ending where you can walk out and say, 'You know, I don't know what I would do."
Aside from Payne's proposed conflict, slight hints about the future antagonists of the sequel were also shared by Star Trek Into Darkness co-screenwriter and producer Damon Lindelof during his past interview with HeyUGuys!:
"You can never see enough Klingons, and I think in this film (Into Darkness) we've given the audience a little taste, but there's also a promise that there's a larger conflict on the horizon, and that would be fun to see."
Klingons are extraterrestrial humanoid warrior species primarily known for prideful callousness and brutality. With this, there's a high probability that the villains of Star Trek 3 will be classic for Trekkies of all ages.
