After it was revealed that Anne Rice's "The Vampire Chronicles" will be revived, the next movie will be "The Vampire Lestat." The renowned author already named her choices among the current crop of young actors.

Tom Cruise played the role of the enigmatic Lestat de Lioncourt opposite Brad Pitt in "Interview with the Vampire" in 1994. They did not make the next novel, "The Vampire Lestat" and instead made "Queen of the Damned" in 2002 where Stuart Townsend took on the mantle of Lestat. The movie was forgettable and only earned the distinction of being Aaliyah's final movie before her death.

After almost twenty years, there's a whole new crop of actors who can play Rice's immortal muse. The bestselling author keeps up with the times, and she is never short of an opinion.

Rice actually asked her fans--which she does a lot, having a lot of respect towards her audience, about who they want to play Lestat. But of course, she would have her own say. From Blastr:

As part of a giveaway contest held earlier this week to celebrate 1 million likes of her official Facebook page, Rice asked her fans to name the actor they'd most like to see play Lestat in a future film. The original post received nearly 8,000 responses from fans. Then, yesterday, Riceresponded with her own Lestat wish list, naming three actors she thinks could play the role.

The first name on her list: Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, who Rice said 'has Lestat's square face, cheerful eyes, and voice.' She also recommended Arrow star Stephen Amell, who she said 'greatly resembles Lestat and has the body and face of a god.' She rounded out the list with 'Hell on Wheels' star Anson Mount."

One would imagine that an author would have a picture of her protagonist in mind when she writes. Tom Cruise would be quite a stretch from Chris Hemsworth, and her other choices also present some diversity,

The final details of the Lestat project is still in flux and Universal, which holds the rights is still gauging the relevance of Anne Rice's characters more than a decade after the last movie.

We'll keep you posted on the developments!
