The 2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards were held on December 3 in Hong Kong. EXO, Big Bang’s Taeyang, and IU were some of the biggest winners of the night. EXO received four awards including the Asian Style Award, Unionpay Asian Artist of the Year, Best Male Group, and Album of the Year for their release “Overdose.”

Taeyang continued the success of the hit “Eyes, Nose, and Lips” from his album “Rise.” He was the recipient of the Song of the Year award for “Eyes, Nose, and Lips.” Taeyang also won Best Male Artist and Best Vocal Performance Male.

K-Pop solo vocalist and acting idol IU (Dream High, Pretty Man) was recognized through the Best Female Artist award.

Mnet shined a spotlight on their hit tvN dramas throughout the ceremony. Kang Sora and Kang Ha Neul of the office drama “Misaeng” were featured in a skit which was set within a convenience store.

One of the highlights of the 2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards for Korean drama fans was a stage performance featuring actress Yoo In Na (My Love From The Stars, The Secret Hotel). Yoo In Na joined fellow YG Entertainment artists Epik High for their stage performance of “Happen Ending.”

There were several comedic moments during the ceremony. “Roommate” stars Lee Guk Joo and Jo Se Ho provided comic relief, at their own expense. Lee Guk Joo delivered a sultry, yet humorous take on the choreography featured in Sunmi’s “Full Moon.” Jo Se Ho sang “Eyes, Nose, and Lips” to Taeyang who was a great sport as his listened to the off-key rendition of his song. Jo Se Ho and Lee Guk Joo also provided one of the only stage kisses of the evening with a very dramatic embrace set to “My Destiny,” the theme of “My Love From The Stars.”

The most hilarious but unplanned moments of the night was at the expense of “Angel Eyes” star Kim Ji Suk. He became confused during the delivery of the introduction of the K-Pop Fan Favorite award, which was meant to be presented to a female artist or group.

Instead, Kim Ji Suk flubbed by calling INFINITE to the stage. INFINITE came to the stage, then realized the mistake. After some confusion, he announced the female group who were the winners, TaeTiSeo.
