Kim Woo Bin's 'The Technicians' Tops Park Shin Hye's 'The Royal Tailor' In The Box Office

On December 24, “The Technicians” starring Kim Woo Bin hit Korean screens along with “The Royal Tailor” which features his “The Heirs” co-star Park Shin Hye.

Both films landed within the top five of films which screened from December 26 through December 28. However, “The Technicians” which is also called “The Con Artists” came in second place grossing more than 5.2 million Korean Won in its opening weekend. “The Royal Tailor” came in at fifth place, grossing more than 1.9 million Korean Won.

“The Technicians” stars Kim Woo Bin as Ji Hyoek, a master counterfeiter and safe-cracker. Actor Ko Chang Seok (Good Doctor, The Night Watchman’s Journal) is Ji Hyeok’s sidekick Koo In. They are joined by Jong Bae, a notorious hacker, played by Lee Hyun Woo (Secretly Greatly, To The Beautiful You).

While “The Technicians” is a contemporary film, “The Royal Tailor” is set within the Joseon Dynasty period. Park Shin Hye portrays the Queen whose life is impacted by royal garments crafted by Dol Seok. Han Suk Kyu (The Berlin File) portrays Dol Seok, a master tailor. Ko Soo (Empire of Gold) is Kong Jin, a talented designer, who is brought into the royal household.

Park Shin Hye and Kim Woo Bin are not the only stars of “The Heirs” with movies that will be on screens in 2015. Lee Min Ho will grace Korean film screens on January 21 with his highly anticipated film “Gangnam 1970.”
