Tekken 7 New Characters

Shaheen of Saudi Arabia is the latest of Tekken 7's new characters, announced with a photo release. Katsuhiro Harada, head of the Tekken project at Bandai Namco, confirmed the addition to an ever-expanding roster for the King of Iron Fist tournament (hardcoregamer.com).

There's a bit of controversy attached to the latest of Tekken 7's new characters, and fortunately it's not about Shaheen's cultural origin. Shaheen apparently bears striking resemblance to Omar Borkan Al Gala, who was involved in viral news two years ago; Al Gala, a model, poet, and photographer, was one of three men banned from Saudi Arabia on account of their good looks (dailymail.co.uk).

The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vices had Omar and two other men deported to Abu Dhabi as a precaution for women who should "fall for them."

"A festival official said the three Emiratis were taken out on the grounds they are too handsome and that the Commission [for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vices] members feared female visitors could fall for them," the Arabic newspaper Elaph reported.

It looks like Miguel has serious competition in Tekken 7's new characters, if the Omar's charms rubs off on the newcomer Shaheen. Omar even backs up his looks with suave, posting the link to a news report on his Facebook page with comments like "The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides."

Harada is pushing for a broader audience appeal in Tekken 7's new characters, and also promises more variety in background and heritage in the next installments.

Shaheen is one of four confirmed in Tekken 7's new characters, along with Claudio, Katarina, and Lucky Chloe. Harada is still considering Eliza as another addition to the roster, but claimed she will only join the tournament if fans want her bad enough.
