Ian Somerhalder And Nikki Reed Engaged! Couple Officially Set To Tie The Knot After Six Months Of Dating; Hints Of Marriage Last Month, Source Says ‘They Knew It Was Right’
Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed are engaged, confirming rumors "The Vampire Diaries" star is seriously planning to tie the knot. The couple is confirmed dating for six months before the big confirmation.
Things are officially serious between Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed, now engaged. Us Weekly confirms the couple is now engaged after a mere six months of dating. They were acquainted prior to the relationship, though.
"They were friends before, the groundwork had been laid before," a source of Us Weekly said. "They had always been attracted to each other, but always in another relationship. It may seem quick, but they knew it was right. They believe in the same things. They are dedicated to their work and helping others."
Romance started between the two in July; their acting credits were even related, with Somerhalder, 36, starring in "The Vampire Diaries," and Reed, 26, in "Twilight"
The couple moved in together in Atlanta, Georgia three weeks after they hooked up, and eventually took in a couple of horses and dogs, and a cat.
Rumors of Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed engaged started last month, when Somerhalder was spotted shopping for a ring.
"Ian bought a vintage diamond eternity band for Nikki," another Us Weekly source said. "It's not a typical engagement ring but actually a wedding band you purchase for when you get married."
The actor also hinted of the same last January 8, in a throwback post on Instagram. It was a selfie photo of him with Reed.
"How I spent my New Year's Day- in a #tbt way- wow. Week one of 2015."

With Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed engaged, Somerhalder will have his first marriage and Reed her second, previously with American Idol contestant Paul MacDonald.
