On January 30, Song Joong Ki’s management provided a statement to the Korean outlet Newsen, which addressed rumors surrounding his casting in the film “Martial Arts.”

His agency, Blossom Entertainment, provided confirmation of the offer while denying his acceptance of the role. The report on Newsen was translated into English by Enews. In the statement to Newsen, a representative for Blossom Entertainment said, “We have received an offer to appear in the film “Martial Arts.” The representative then stated, “It′s just one of the many projects that were offered to us.”

The representative provided clarification which addressed recent casting rumors by adding that Blossom Entertainment has not made a final decision about the film.

One concern for Blossom Entertainment is the fact that he is still in the midst of serving his mandatory military term. The representative confirmed that he would be released from the military in May. The representative went on to tell Newsen, “We will decide on a follow-up project once he gets discharged.” Rather than focus on future projects, Blossom Entertainment emphasized that their goal was patiently awaiting his discharge from the military.

“Martial Arts” is a project that has been fraught with casting problems. Jo In Sung was initially cast as the film’s leading man, prior to the completion of his military service. However, a delay in the filming schedule caused Jo In Sung to back out from the project. Next, Yeo Jin Goo was cast in the leading role. However, the Chinese investment company which is partially backing the film was more interested in casting “My Love From The Stars” actor Kim Soo Hyun in the role.
This dispute led Yeo Jin Goo to be abruptly removed as the leading man of the film.

“Martial Arts” is science-fiction film set in a dystopian future where energy is scarce.
