A romantic encounter between Cha Do Hyun (Ji Sung) and Oh Ri Jin (Hwang Jung Eum) triggers the spontaneous release of Do Hyun's six additional personalities on “Kill Me, Heal Me.”

Do Hyun struggles with a psychological condition known as disassociate identity disorder, an affliction which is indicated by the presence of several distinct personalities ranging from a seven-year-old girl to an older man who is an expert in bomb assembly.

As the love line between Do Hyun and Ri Jin continues to develop, greater care is taken to humanize each of the individual personalities.

Episode nine of the drama opened with the final scene from episode eight where Do Hyun surprises Ri Jin with a kiss, after she has revealed her motives for remaining by his side as his psychologist. He confirms his identity as Do Hyun kissing Ri Jin to remove her suspicions that he was acting as Shin Se Gi, one of his daredevil personalities. Se Gi previously expressed his romantic interest in Ri Jin while cautioning Do Hyun from pursuing a relationship with her.

Ri Jin and Do Hyun struggle with their feelings for one another but relent to sharing a meal. Do Hyun confronts his feelings for Ri Jin, which triggers the release of his six additional personalities. The scene evokes imagery of the 2013 drama “Master's Sun” where So Ji Sub struggled with Gong Hyo Jin, as numerous ghosts inhabited her body.

Nana, a seven-year-old who loves teddy bears makes her appearance before transitioning to the teenage personality, Yo Na. Yo Na emerges from Ri Jin's bedroom, clad in bunny ear pajamas. Ri Jin is startled by Yo Na's rude comments and her new-found infatuation with Oh Ri On. Over the course of the evening, Do Hyun's other personalities reveal themselves to Ri Jin, including Perry Park and Ahn Yo Sub.
