Johnny Depp And Amber Heard Are Married! ’21 Jump Street’ Star Ties The Knot With ‘Magic Mike XXL’ Actress In Home Ceremony, To Be Followed By Scheduled Affair In Bahamas, Ends One-Year Engagement
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are married after a year-long engagement; the 51-year old actor tied the knot with the 28-year old star of "Magic Mike XXL" Tuesday at Depp's West Hollywood home.
Us Weekly broke the news Johnny Depp and Amber Heard married Feb. 3, exchanging their "I dos" before their scheduled ceremony in the tropics, in Bahamas.
The newlywed couple wanted things simple and low-key, and the wedding came quite a surprise. A source to the magazine confirms the couple is in a good place, and tying the knot came naturally after a year of engagement.
"It will be a really simple ceremony. Things are in a great place with them."
Depp and Heard's first run-in was during 2009's production of "Rum Diary." They met on the set and hit it off, started dating as early as 2011. First report the couple was engaged came in Us Magazine's January 2014 report; Depp himself confirmed the news last March.
"The fact that I'm wearing a chick's ring on my finger is probably a dead giveaway. Not very subtle."
The diamond ring Depp was referring to was apparently meant for Heard, but was too big for the actress for a comfy fit so Depp wore it instead.
A simple wedding worked for the actor's advantage, who in an interview during promotion for "Transcendence" said he was lousy at wedding plans.
"I think that I would be better at making women's shoes than I would be at wedding planning, I can't plan anything. I'm really bad at that stuff."
The marriage is Heard's first, and Depp's second. The star of TV's "21 Jump Street" was married to Lori Anne Allison for two years, which is brief in comparison to his 14-year relationship with Vanessa Paradis, whom he shared two kids with (Lily-Rose, 14, and Jack, 11).
