Gotham Villain List

A former "Heroes" star is confirmed to join the "Gotham" villain list; Milo Ventimiglia will be an antagonist in the police procedural adaptation of the Batman comic, a contrast to his squeaky-clean role in "Heroes."

The "Gotham" villain list is reduced to a handful of recurring characters, with a few slowly coming out of their origins and into true forms. "Heroes" star Milo Ventimiglia won't assume a major villain role, though, but a custom-character unique to the TV show.

Ventimiglia plays the character Ogre, which is not the Ogre portrayed in the graphic novels. The latter is a genetically enhanced person with superhuman strength, while the Ogre Ventimiglia will play is a dashing debonair with an obsession to find his perfect mate.

Ventimiglia's character is "handsome, wealthy and seductive, the Ogre is a serial killer who has been preying on the young women of Gotham for nearly a decade, luring them into his web and confronting them with a series of 'tests' as he searches for his perfect mate. When the women fail to live up to his impossible standard, Lennon disposes of them quickly and viciously."

Ogre will debut on episode 19 of the show's first season, confirmed for recurring appearances in multiple episodes, pulling in detectives Gordon and Bullock on a heated hunt.

"[Ogre's] obsessions, combined with Gordon's determination to bring him down, send both Gordon and Lennon - and those around them - on a course toward tragedy," according to the official press release.

The "Gotham" villain list is undoubtedly headlined by Oswald Cobblepot, or the Penguin, played by Robin Lord Taylor. The series continues to receive mixed reactions from Batman fans, and some insist the development of Riddler's character is mere lip service.

Bruno Heller's TV adaptation of the Batman graphic novel is enjoying solid ratings in its first season; and the creator has hinted the origins of Batman's nemesis The Joker will be hinted before the current season is through (screenrant.com).
