"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and "Inhumans" tie up with the show's mid-season return, with another character teased for the 2018 film.

ABC is stepping up the tie-in between "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and "Inhumans," after last episode's cliffhanger reveal of agent Skye's true identity.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is setting up to continue "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." with "Agent Carter" almost halfway through its first season run. A trailer for the TV adaptation of Daredevil is also poised to launch this April.

Fans of "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." were left hanging with a sudden reveal of agent Skye's (played by Chloe Bennet) identity, which is an expected tease for November 2018's "Inhumans," part of the MCU's "phase 3" plans. "Phase 2" wraps up when "Ant-Man" releases this summer.

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." continues its season March 3, with a few new characters to introduce in the aftermath of its "Inhumans" nod. Notable is Aussie actor Luke Mitchell, pegged to play the role of a character named Lincoln.

Lincoln is a confirmed Inhuman, though new and custom-made for the TV show. The character will help Skye develop her potential as she grapples with her true identity.

Mitchell's entry into the show, and how his character affects agent Skye, are pivot points towards the show's winter finale: "With the revelations surrounding Skye's true identity in the Winter Finale, we knew we'd be introducing more Inhumans as our story progressed," Jeph Loeb of Marvel Television said. "The charming energy Luke brings to the role that will make him a character to watch as we continue our season."

Screen Rant speculates the Lincoln character could be an adaptation of Marvel Comics character, though a relatively new one in the ABC TV show.

The tie-in between "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and "Inhumans" bumps up the ABC show's story arc into the MCU's bigger picture, involving aliens and super-powers.
