Lee Jun Ki's next character will be mysterious, magnetically appealing and very dangerous. He's about to play a vampire so beautiful that he's impossible to resist.

On April 2, the actor's agency, Namoo Actors, confirmed that he would take the part of a beautiful scholarly vampire in the new MBC vampire drama.

"Lee Jun Ki was offered the male lead role for 'The Scholar Who Walks The Night," which is set to air in July, and has confirmed this casting," said a Namoo Actors representative.

Based on a popular manhwa of the same name, "Scholar Who Walks The Night" is set in the Joseon dynasty. So, it will be a historical fantasy drama. Lee Jun Ki already has plenty of historical drama experience, having appeared in the dramas "The Joseon Gunman," "Iljimae" and "Arang and the Magistrate."

Only one other cast member has been confirmed for "The Scholar Who Walks The Night." TVQX's Changmin signed on to play a crown prince in the drama. Changmin previously appeared in the drama "Athena: Goddess of War" and won a rookie award for his part in the Japanese film "Fly With The Gold." It will be Changmin's first historical drama.

Actress Jin Se Yeon is still considering whether to participate in the drama. If she signs on the "Doctor Stranger" star would play the drama's female lead. Her character is a disgraced nobleman's daughter, whose family was unjustly accused and as a result became impoverished. So, she disguises herself as a male bookseller and tries to earn some money to support her family. In the process she encounters a vampire. He is so magnetically appealing that she can't resist him.

Actually these two characters have a lot in common. He's not really human but probably pretends to be. She's also not who she pretends to be.

Both characters will have a lot of explaining to do before they can make any progress in a relationship.

Early in March Actress Han Groo was reported to be considering a part in the drama. Kim Soo Hyun and Park Hae Jin were also said to be in the running for the male lead role.

Jang Hyun Joo, who wrote the classic k-drama "Coffee Prince," is the screenwriter for "The Scholar Who Walks The Night." Lee Sung Joon, who was the second director on the critically acclaimed drama "Empress Ki" and on the hit drama "The Moon Embracing The Sun," will direct.
