April Fool's Joke Prompts Kdrama Sequel Question

April started out on a promising note-with a rumor that there was going to be a sequel to "Boys Over Flowers," starring none other than the singer Psy as an evil villain and Dakota Fanning as the conniving girl who steals Goo Jyun Pyo from Geum Jan Di.

Turns out it was an April Fool's Joke by a popular drama provider. Fooled me and maybe you too.

The rumor bounced around for a while until everyone realized that it was not possible but it did give rise to some questions about what kdramas should have a sequel.

Should someone really bring back the cast of "Boys Over Flowers?" After all, the Taiwanese version of the same manga, "Meteor Garden," starring Jerry Yan, ran for two long popular seasons.

Although fans would be happy to see a second season, it would probably be impossible, considering the actors' other career choices.

But all things considered, if casting were not a problem, which dramas should do a second act? For a start, I would like to see more of the dramas that ended on a confusing note. Do the characters eventually get together? Is he really alive? For example:

City Hunter: While I loved this drama, the end was so vague that you got the idea the writers were afraid to be specific or fans would turn violent.

49 Days: Another drama that there could have been more of, as it's hard to imagine what will happen to the characters after the final scene.

Big: Really? Could we not just see the lovers in their actual bodies (can't explain this any further without a spoiler)?

That said there are not a lot of kdramas that have sequels. "Iris 2" is back due to the popularity of the series, "Iris."

"Dream High," the show about students who dream of being kpop idols, had a sequel with "Dream High 2."

The "Unstoppable High Kick," a situation comedy about the life of the Lee family, led to "High Kick Through The Roof" and "High Kick 3: The Counterattack of The Short Leg." And "Full House Take 2" followed up on the hit, "Full House," starring Bi Rain. It was last year's most anticipated remake but did not live up to the popularity of the original. "school" have been around for various years, and it's always a success, it serves as the trampoline for rookie actors to get noticeable, and shoot to stardom.

Of course on American television, such shows would not even be called a sequel. They would just be referred to as a second season.
