Looks like Motorola is set to unveil the next version of the Moto X and Moto G smartphones as the popular smartphone maker sent out invitations for July 28 events in New York and London.

The cryptic message on the invitation reads:

"Your relationship status is about to change."

The note is signed "XGX, Moto," hinting at new versions of its Moto X and Moto G smartphones. The announcement about the announcement did not specifically name any devices, the fact that the "O" in the middle of the "XOX" greeting looks like a "G" is a pretty strong clue (ina play on the "xoxo" notation meaning "hugs and kisses).

The Lenovo-owned company has also launched a micro-site for the event, which feature this text:

"Yes. We're in a relationship with our phone... We feel lost without it. We trust them with our most personal questions, photos, stories and secrets. They never leave our side. But shouldn't all that care and devotion you show be returned? A better mobile relationship is on its way. Join us on 7.28.15 to find out how we are changing things for the better."

The newest Moto G leak is the other piece of evidence. Pocketnow spotted more images that tease the upcoming 2015 Moto G. The new Moto G will reportedly feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC, as rumors suggested, and 2GB of RAM. The device will run Android 5.1.1.

Those hints aside, it doesn't look like Motorola plans to launch a refreshed Moto 360 just yet, as there haven't been the rounds of rumors and leaks that usually come before such announcement, PCWorld noted.

With its flagship Moto X taking center stage, Motorola has streamlined its portfolio to just a handful of new products each year. The smartphone manufacturer has been more successful pushing its low-cost smartphones Moto G and Moto E in emerging markets, where it offers an option with relatively high-end specs.

Apparently, Motorola is not alone. Companies such as Xiaomi, Huawei and ZTE are all stepping up the quality of the low-cost devices in a bid to go after those faster-growing markets.
