Adam Lambert has claimed that taking on the mantle that Freddie Mercury left for Queen was a big challenge, but he slowly gained confidence with every successful performance.

In an interview for Schön! Magazine, as shared by NZCity News, he said that Queen+Adam Lambert tour has given him another confidence boost that he could conquer anything.

"It made me feel validated and like I accomplished something because the Queen thing was a big challenge and kind of intimidating," the "American Idol" alum said of his Queen stint. "So coming off of that and feeling like it was a victory was really good."

He also said that the way he dresses has resulted to all sorts of misconception.

"I think when you wear eccentric clothing and you perform confidently on stage it's easy to assume someone is an asshole or a diva or whatever and I don't think I am," he told the magazine. "I'm sure I've had my moments but I think I'm pretty friendly."

Being part of "American Idol" is both a blessing and a curse for Queen's current frontman.

"I think one of the other misconceptions is that a lot of the ideas and creativity doesn't come from me," he explained. "Maybe because of where I came from with 'American Idol' or whatever. I think sometimes people go 'Why is the label making you do this.' No one's making me do anything."

Whatever his issues are, Adam Lambert enjoys all the support of the other Queen members.

The Queen + Adam Lambert Tour has been making waves in Europe as the band performed to sold-out venues. Now it's conquering South America.

"When Adam walks onto a stage, it's not Freddie, and it's not him trying to be Freddie, but when Adam walks on and when Freddie walks on, something happens," Brian May said.

"There's some kind of catalytic action that happens between people, and it's a very rare and special thing. So I would say that's something that Adam and Freddie share, and I know that Freddie would agree with that."
