Is the relationship between DeMarcus Cousins and Sacramento Kings coach George Carl so fractured that one of them will leave before the trade deadline? In other NBA news, rumors about Kevin Durant going to the Washington Wizards have emerged.

ESPN https://espn.go.com/blog/nba/rumors/post/_/id/36530/nba-rumor-roundup-147 noted that if there's going to someone more expendable, it would have to be the coach.

But that didn't stop other teams from contacting the Sacramento Kings to see if DeMarcus Cousins would be available for trade.

According to the NBA news from CSN Mid-Atlantic, the Kings are struggling at the start of the season and tension could blow over anytime soon, and the Wizards could benefit from that.

"It's doubtful that a team such as the Wizards, who value locker-room stability in light of the dysfunction that existed when they drafted John Wall at No. 1 overall in 2010, would be seriously interested if -- and that's a huge if -- Kings owner Vivek Ranadive opted to start over," Wizards Insider J. Michael wrote.

"But this is where a player like Cousins, who was a teammate of Wall's at Kentucky, can be had at a relative bargain if -- and that's a huge if -- Ranadive were to do so. Not a bad Plan B after Durant," he added.

Multiple NBA trade news and rumors suggest that most teams are hesitant to take in the volatile forward and mess up their locker rooms. But his talent is too huge to pass up.

Speaking of Kevin Durant, NBA trade news and rumors hint that the Washington Wizards remain on his radar as he enters free agency next season.

In an interview with USA Today, he hinted that he's also thinking about the possibility of playing for the basketball team of his hometown, Washington.

"It's a great feeling, man, just knowing I walked these streets as a little kid, and I can inspire so many kids that have the same dreams that I have," he said. "It means a lot coming back here because I remember as a kid catching the train to watch Wizards, Mystics, and Georgetown all the time. To be able to walk on the court, it shows that ... Hopefully there are more kids behind me."
