Bindi Irwin, recent winner of ABC’s DWTS reality dance show, revealed a family feud with her grandfather for the first time. She said Steve Irwin’s father has been aloof from her family after her father’s death.
Steve Irwin, Bindi’s father was a recognized conservationist in Australia and was killed during an encounter with a stingray.

"When my dad passed away he chose to distance himself from everything that dad loved the most,” Irwin said in an online report by Mirror .

Bindi explained that they are showing respect to their grandfather. "At the moment we’re really just respecting his wishes because he hasn’t had anything to do with us for a long time and he decided his own path," she added.

"There was one year where we sent birthday presents to him and he opened them up and he sent them back."

Meanwhile, Ms. Irwin was issued approval from a judge to collect her check for $230, 000 for her DWTS win with dance partner, Derek Hough. Since she was 17 and considered a minor, she was asked to produce a proof of death document for her father.

The daughter of the prominent nature-lover and animal activist said she would also like to star on the DWTS show in Australia after her win at the “Dancing With the Stars” Season 21 finale.

"If they would like to have me, I would love to work with the Australian 'Dancing With The Stars.' They are amazing. There are so many talented people," Design Trend reported.

Irwin also confirmed that she would like to stay in Australia, which should make it suitable for her to join ABCs Australia DWTS counterpart.

"I think the States are wonderful because they're like a second home and my mom's originally from Oregon so that's great but home for me is Australia Zoo. When you grow up surrounded by animals your whole life you can't leave that," she added.
