U2's New Album 'Experience' Is Going To Be 'Epic'; Bono Shares Thoughts On Upcoming Offering

Bono has promised that U2's new album will be "epic" as the Irish vocalist revealed that they already finished with 18 songs, although that will still be reduced to around 12 for the final copy.

"We're well into it," Bono tells EW. "Edge just came up with a cracker the other day! It's provisionally titled 'Tightrope.'"

He added, "It's very epic. It's very up. And, you know, that's probably what the experience has taught us: to be fully in the moment and that fun is respected, and joy is not to be let go of."

"We're playing out of our skins at the moment," Bono says. "It's pathetic it took us 35 years to be the band we've always wanted to be. It's a wild thing to be in it. Our friend, Noel Gallagher, came to a show and said to us, 'You're starting with the encore?'"

After fending off the rumors that U2 will release its new album on iTunes, The Edge hinted to The Belfast Telegraph that they are not ruling out that possibility, particularly since they might be reaching out to the younger audience.

"We haven't figured it out yet, but our intention would be to get it out sometime in the back end of next year," he said. "I would not rule out doing something similar with the next record."

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Bono said U2's new album will be far different that their previous works.

"I went back and started listening to all the music that made us start a rock band. It gave us a reason to exist again. That's how this album started."

"We wanted the album to have songs that would stand up when played on acoustic guitars or piano," he added, "not relying on Edge, Adam and Larry's atmospheres or dynamic playing. We're putting out an acoustic session with the physical release to try to prove this point."
