A few k-drama actors are returning from their military duty this year and they are already planning what they will do in 2016.
In the next few months K-drama fans can look forward to comebacks from Yoon Si Yoon, Park Ki Woong and Lee Min Ki.
Yoon reported for his military duty in April 28 2014 and he will complete his enlistment in January. The 30-year-old actor is known for his roles in "The Prime Minister and I" with IU, "Flower Boys Next Door" with Park Shin Hye, and "King of Baking, Kim Takgu" with Joo Won. He's already reviewing drama roles.
Being in the military has not hurt his earning power. In 2014, tvN's Name List program said his earning power after joins military discharge was estimated to be around $600,000, placing him seventh in a list of celebrities who improved their image after enlisting.
Park Ki Woong will be the next actor to be discharged. His discharge date is February 7, although that may be affected by Lunar New Year observations on February 8.
The first thing he will do when he is discharged is to find a new agency as his contract with Wave On Entertainment ended last year. Park Ki Woong played Joo Won's friend-turned-enemy Kimura Shunji in the drama "Bridal Mask." The 29-year-old actor was Kim Soo Hyun's fellow spy in the film "Secretly Greatly. He enlisted on May 8, 2014 and serve with the Seoul District Police Agency as a conscripted policeman.
Lee Min Ki enlisted in August 2014 and worked as a civil assistant at a public administration agency. Lee will be discharged in August 2016.
The award-winning actor had his last drama appearance in "Shut Up Flower Boy," playing the leader of a band that also had Sung Joon and Infinite's L among its members. His last film was "Shoot Me In The Heart" with co-star Yeo Jin Goo."
Choi Jin Hyuk has also been discharged from the army but he did not get to complete his two-year duty, He enlisted on March 31, 2015 but was discharged after seven months due to a serious knee injury. He had the choice to serve with the Seoul Police Promotional Team, the theater unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Force, but wanted to serve as an active duty soldier. His last drama was "Pride and Prejudice" with Baek Jin Hee.
JYJ singer and actor Kim Jae Joong will also be released later this year. His release date is December 30.
