IU Reveals Parents’ Reaction After Watching ‘Broker’ at Cannes Film Festival
IU dishes out her family's reaction after watching the movie "Broker" at Cannes Film Festival 2022.
The singer-actress shared that her parents and siblings joined her for her first appearance at the prestigious ceremony.
In an interview as obtained by SpoTV News, the 29-year-old star spills more secrets about her experience with "Broker," which premiered at the 75th Cannes Film Festival.
How Did IU's Parents Respond After Watching' Broker'?
Attending her first-ever Cannes Film Festival was among the 2022 highlights of IU's career as an actress. Interestingly, she was joined by her loving family, whom the actress mentioned that they watched "Broker" during the last VIP premiere.
When asked how she felt the first time she watched her movie, the singer-actress admitted that she was "nervous" the whole time.
Moreover, she also shared that she is planning to watch it in theaters adding, "I have time around next week, so I think I should go to the movie theater and watch it properly."
The Hallyu star also thought that "Broker" was not the genre that her family would enjoy watching.
According to IU, her mom and dad usually like heartfelt and funny movies, while "Broker" centers around drama and having their kid being left in a baby box and having another family to take care of them. But got a different reaction and said that they were moved by the film's plot.
"In the group chat room afterward, they asked why we said we wouldn't like it," she shared, adding, "I wondered if the director's unique, calm and light movie would be right, but my mom and dad cried, and my sisters said it was funny. It's the best review for my family. It was good."

In "Broker," IU played the role of a first-time mom, So Young, who had to leave her infant in a baby box.

Here, she met two brokers, Sang Hyun and Dong Soo, played by Song Kang Ho and Kang Dong Won, as they helped her look for a new family for her baby.
However, the duo is being tracked down by two detectives, Soo Jin and Lee, portrayed by Bae Doona and Lee Joo Young.
IU Talks About Her Red Carpet Experience at Cannes Film Festival 2022
The 29-year-old South Korean beauty wowed the crowd as she stepped on the red carpet wearing a Korean-based designer Choi Jae Hoon dress as she climbed the famous steps of the French Riviera alongside the "Broker" cast and director.
IU also dons a jaw dropping Chaumet jewelries, earrings from Joséphine Duo Eternels collection and necklace from Joséphine Aigrette collection.
During the interview, she was asked about her thoughts about walking the red carpet. The singer-actress mentioned that she fitted five outfits for the Cannes Film Festival, which her stylist prepared.
At the festival, IU mentioned that she felt like she was in a movie. Moreover, she also mentioned how veteran actor and Cannes Film Festival Best Actor Song Kang Ho enjoyed the red carpet so much.
