As obtained by a media outlet, the renowned South Korean star says that he suffered from panic disorder and would often experience it when flying.

"I actually experienced panic disorder on an airplane in my mid-20s," he recalled, adding, "I've actually experienced feelings and symptoms of panic disorder several times since then, and I wanted to express those feelings for them to be felt by the audience."

"My character did not develop panic disorder, but rather a person who developed a phobia of flying for some reason. I wanted that to be expressed to some extent," he explained.

Moreover, Lee Byung Hun continued to discuss how he could relate to his role, Jae Hyuk, especially at the height of the crisis, saying that breathing in pain, anxious eyes, and always carrying medicine was "not so unfamiliar" to the actor.
