Kim Go Eun Transforms Into Joseon’s Court Lady in New Movie ‘Hero’

From an ordinary office girl in "Yumi's Cells" to underprivileged, Oh In Joo in "Little Women," Kim Go Eun proves her versatility as she transformed into Joseon's last court lady in the new movie "Hero."

The actress never fails to impress viewers with her ability to portray various roles.

Now, months after the hit novel-based K-drama aired, Kim Go Eun returns with an upcoming film.

Helmed by "Sex is Zero," "Tidal Wave" and "Return" director Yoon Je Kyun, "Hero" focuses on the final year in the life of Ahn Jung Geun, a Korean independence activist, who left a remarkable story after he died as a martyr during a war.

The historical film stars Jung Sung Hwa as Ahn Jung Geun, the person who assassinated Ito Hirobumi in Harbin and was sentenced to death.

Meanwhile, Kim Go Eun joins as Seol Hee, Empress Myeongseong's trusted court lady but chose to take part in Korean independence activity following the death of the royal.

Seol Hee is also Joseon's last court lady who witnessed the death of the last empress.

Joining the duo are Bae Jung Nam, "Money Heist Korea's" Lee Hyun Woo, veteran actress Na Moon Hee and more.

As the movie nears its premiere, CJ ENM, the film's distributor, teases fans with a sneak peek of Kim Go Eun's character in "Hero."

In the still cuts, the actress performs her duties as the informant of the independence army after completely leaving her position as a court lady.

Kim Go Eun's role harbors a strong-willed character as she secretly gathers key information about Japan while hiding her identity to avenge the nation.

"Hero" is Korea's first musical film is slated to premiere in theaters on December 21.

As preparation for the movie, Kim Go Eun underwent thorough vocal training, showing her dedication to the role.

With this, "Hero" director Yoon Je Kyun lauded the actress for her excellence in acting and for ensuring that she delivers her Japanese lines well.

According to an outlet, the director expressed his surprise at the actress' eagerness to play the character.

"She showed her amazing acting and singing at every moment so that no direction was needed," he explained.

Kim Go Eun's Upcoming Projects

"Hero" is Kim Go Eun's big screen comeback after starring in the 2020 romance movie "Untact" opposite Kim Joo Heon.

As for her upcoming projects, viewers are hopeful that the South Korean beauty will reprise her role as Kim Yumi in "Yumi's Cells 3" and would continue her love line with either Ahn Bo Hyun or GOT7's Jinyoung.

On the other hand, after "Hero" she will be working with Lee Do Hyun, veteran actor Choi Min Shik and more for "The Unearthed Grave."
